Portugal is taking the lead on renewables and becoming a role model on how to replace fossil fuels by green energies. Wind power and interconnection made it possible for Portugal to phase out coal in 2021.

Portugal is entering the next stage of its energy transition, but activists and populations claiming “not in my back yard” are part of the equation.

Renewable gases as such as green hydrogen and biomethane will play a significant role in the Portuguese economy decarbonization process.
